Oil Pastel Drawing

This mixed media drawing was done for my final project in Drawing I. The piece uses a combination of oil pastel and watercolor in its composition. Based on a photograph of my grandmother and I from many years ago, this was created as a gift to her. I had the goal of creating a stained glass effect with the use of color blocking in the subject of this piece. The black and white watercolor background emphasizes this stylistic choice. The beginning stages of this piece relied heavily on the use of a grid to scale the original photograph.
